It was a brisk fall evening in North East Los Angeles and hundreds gathered to celebrate artist Erin Hanson’s new 5000-square foot gallery space and studio. A moment Hanson has been planning for nearly two years, the night marked an important milestone in her ongoing objective to reach out to Los Angeles and inspire as many people as possible with her impressionist paintings.
After a lifetime of painting in oils, Erin Hanson has developed a unique style of expressing her view of the world with thick individual brush strokes and intense color. Her paintings bring traditional impressionist painting into the 21st century with a modern expressionist flair, while her adventures in the outdoors give a personal taste to her paintings. Hanson showcases her work at top art festivals, country clubs, museums and elite wine events across the country and first opened her solo gallery in Glendale, California three years ago. The old 2000-square foot space quickly became too small for her...

"As chair of the Art Beautification Project for Harbor-UCLA Medical Center's Surgery and Emergency Department Building Project we were very pleased to receive the donation of images from a well-known California Artist, Erin Hanson.
"Our vision was to depict as one walks into the grand hall of the main building poignant landscapes depicting California. Erin’s work printed on large 6-foot canvases takes the viewer from the ocean to the desert to the rolling hills and mountains of this great state. Her work clearly illustrates the art-of-the-state for this state-of-the-art building...

For some people the desert is a rocky wasteland void of color and life but, for those of us self-proclaimed desert aficionados, the desert the most beautiful, stunningly exotic location to live on the planet. When an artist and painter loves the desert, and can feel the life within the stretches of wash, hill, badland, mountain and is able to convey this love and teeming wildlife energy in paintings; then, we desert dwellers appreciate the art and the skill of the artist that much more.
To be able to a sense of movement or action into a picture and go beyond the boundaries of painting a scene… the ability to fuse life onto a canvas is the highest form of tribute to our desert homes and humankind.
Erin Hanson loves the desert and it shows. She loves texture and color. She appreciates the beauty of the subtle color palette displayed during every mood change in the Anza-Borrego Desert.
