Artist's Description
The view from the top of the cinder cone at Lava Butte in Central Oregon is the subject of this landscape oil painting. The soil is a rich red, rocky collection of rubble where a few hardy evergreen trees poke their limbs skyward. The distant land is a rich green and the mountain in the distance is magnificent. It is part of the Newberry Crater National Monument and a beautiful hike up the sides of the cinder cone leave visitors amazed at the beauty of nature and the Cascade Mountain range.
The original painting was created with oil paints on stretched canvas.
