The artwork, The Jeremiah Tree, shows this world of the surreal, this world beyond what we call normal.

In the midst of a desert we find growth. Flourishing within the harsh, sere landscape, an apple tree grows strong and tall, its roots tapping into the life giving water of a passing stream.

It’s odd to see any tree here, much less an apple tree. But somehow, many many years ago, an apple seed, an apple core, the whippet of a root stock – something – planted itself in exactly the right place to grow, to be nourished, to flourish.

The Jeremiah Tree was created as a commissioned painting for a family who wanted to commemorate the Hebrew scripture verse (which Christians call the Old Testament Bible verse) Jeremiah 17:7-8. The verse describes the person who trusts in God as,
